MediaWall 4500 Display Processor Keeps University of Maryland School of Pharmacy Informed
"Expertise. Influence. Impact." These are the words Natalie D. Eddington, dean of the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy, uses to describe the new 128,000 square-foot Pharmacy Hall campus addition opened in October 2010. "Our new building is a structural sign of our School's pre-eminence and leadership in the fields of pharmacy education, practice, research, and community service in the state of Maryland and beyond," she continued.
Founded in 1841, the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy is the fourth oldest such school in the nation. With the opening of its new facility, it ranks in the top for innovative technology. The seven-story Pharmacy Hall includes lecture halls equipped with distance-learning technology, a new patient interaction laboratory, and four floors of space dedicated to clinical and translational research in pharmacogenetics, nanomedicine, and drug discovery.
But all is not work for students, faculty, and staff. A large lounge off the main corridor on the first floor provides a comfortable place to relax, gather for discussions, enjoy a meal, and stay current on events about campus and around the world.
To bring news and entertainment to lounge visitors, the experts at Nelson White Systems, Inc. installed nine NEC X461UN LCD monitors in a 3-by-3 arrangement. Sourced by digital media players, cable feeds, computers, and local TV, an RGB Spectrum MediaWall 4500 processor is used to select and arrange video windows on the wall. The flexibility to display multiple signal types simultaneously was a prime influence in the selection of the MediaWall 4500 processor.
While the display in Pharmacy Hall uses only nine of the MediaWall 4500 processor's twelve outputs, it can be expanded at anytime to a full 3x4 array with up to thirty input windows. HDCP support guarantees that digital content displays correctly and is protected throughout the signal path.
Dave Riordan, project manager at Nelson White Systems said, "The ease of installation coupled with the robust feature set made the selection of the MediaWall 4500 processor easy." Senior product manager at RGB Spectrum Mike Piper added, "Web-based control, a broad array of input and output types, and real-time performance drive this public display system to its best capabilities. Higher-education customers consistently give top marks to RGB Spectrum's system reliability."
Whether viewed by a captive audience or just those passing by, the high visual impact of the video wall catches the attention of all. Expertise. Influence. Impact. Sums up another great RGB Spectrum installation.
