MediaWall 4500 Provides Vision for the Future
"See for yourself" is the invitation to the newly expanded W.K. Kellogg Eye Center, home to the University of Michigan Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. Guests are invited to tour the center, patients are offered services to improve their vision, and state-of-the-art display systems maximize the effectiveness of information presented during research seminars, staff meetings and public education programs.
Adding 230,000 square feet to the three existing buildings on the University campus, the new Brehm Tower houses seven eye care clinics with suites for refractive and cosmetic surgery. It also serves as the main laboratory component of the Comprehensive Diabetes Center. Designed to enhance collaboration among researchers as they move laboratory discoveries into treatment practices, the expansion utilizes cutting-edge technologies for communication and data sharing throughout the University of Michigan and beyond.
A large meeting room in the new building is capable of accommodating various configurations with portable furniture, easy laptop connectivity, video conferencing, and projection onto a curved wall from either a single or multiple projectors. The space is designed for presentations, meetings, and lectures.
An RGB Spectrum MediaWall® 4500 creates the large 46:10 aspect ratio display wall made up of three edge-blended projectors. Able to display one to thirty windows, the MediaWall accepts both video and graphics signals. Superior scaling technology allows for high-quality presentation of one image source over the entire wall. The MediaWall 4500 offers complete flexibility of window layouts to meet any requirement. It also delivers overlapping outputs to the edge blending system creating a seamless display. The range and flexibility of the system accommodates both current and future meeting requirements.
The MediaWall product family continues to prove its value in large-venue applications by providing real-time performance regardless of resolution and frame rate. Unlike other display processors, the MediaWall is HDCP compliant removing all barriers to the use of protected content from such devices as Blu-ray players and set-top boxes. MediaWall processors couple perfectly with 8 and 10 megapixel projectors. NTSC video, graphics sources to 1920x1200, and high-definition resolutions to 2048x1080 are supported on inputs and outputs.
